Isuzu Gemini II (JT150) gallery (1985–1990)

Released in February 1985, the second-generation Isuzu Gemini under the JT150 index represented a major engineering overhaul, abandoning the traditional rear-wheel-drive architecture for a modern front-wheel-drive layout on GM's R-body platform. This change dramatically improved interior packaging and cabin space efficiency within a compact footprint. Body styles offered included a practical four-door sedan and a sporty three-door hatchback. The powertrain lineup featured newly developed 1.5-liter petrol engines (such as the 4XC1 family, including turbocharged variants) alongside efficient diesel alternatives, mated to manual and automatic transmissions. In 1987, the vehicle underwent a comprehensive facelift that refined exterior lighting, bumpers, and interior ergonomics, alongside the introduction of sportier trims tuned by Irmscher. Internationally, this generation achieved notable export success, distributed in North America as the Isuzu I-Mark, in Australia as the Holden Gemini, and under other GM subsidiary names like Geo Spectrum, praised widely for handling and efficiency.
