The Hyundai i40 (VF) D-segment vehicle was manufactured from 2011 to 2019 primarily for European markets in wagon and sedan styles.
The Hyundai i40 (chassis index VF) was conceived at Hyundai's European R&D facility in Rüsselsheim, Germany to target D-segment buyers. Unveiled first as the i40 Tourer estate at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the four-door sedan variant followed shortly at the Barcelona Motor Show. The model embodied Fluidic Sculpture design with wing-shaped headlights, chrome accents, and generous cabin standard equipment.
Powertrain options featured 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter GDI/MPI gasoline engines alongside a versatile 1.7-liter U-II CRDi turbodiesel engine producing between 115 and 141 horsepower. Transmission offerings included six-speed manual, six-speed torque-converter automatic, and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission introduced during the 2015 facelift.
