The second-generation Honda Odyssey (RA6–RA9) arrived in December 1999. It retained the hinged-door MPV layout while gaining wider body tracks and stiffer chassis mounting points. AWD variants utilized Honda's Real Time 4WD system.

Powertrains included a 2.3-liter F23A (150 hp) four-cylinder and a 3.0-liter J30A V6 (210 hp) with VTEC. V6 models were paired with an advanced 5-speed automatic. A 2001 facelift refreshed front grilles, headlights, and interior seat patterns.
