The first-generation Honda Insight was produced from 1999 to 2006 as a ultra-aerodynamic two-seat hybrid hatchback.
The first-generation Honda Insight (ZE1) debuted in November 1999 as a pioneer in hybrid mobility. The two-seat hatchback featured an all-aluminum body structure and rear wheel skirts, delivering a low drag coefficient of 0.25.
Its Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) powertrain combined a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine (67 hp) with an electric motor (13 hp), achieving under 3.4 L/100 km fuel consumption. Transmissions included a 5-speed manual and a CVT.
