The first-generation Honda Fit subcompact hatchback was produced from 2001 to 2007, renowned for its center-tank layout and Magic Seats.

The first-generation Honda Fit (GD1–GD9) debuted in June 2001. By positioning the fuel tank beneath the front seats, Honda freed up immense interior volume, enabling the versatile 'Magic Seats' that fold flat or flip up vertically for tall items.

Power came from 1.3-liter L13A i-DSI (86 hp) dual-spark and 1.5-liter L15A VTEC (110 hp) engines, paired with a smooth CVT or 5-speed manual transmission. Japanese trims offered AWD. A 2004 facelift updated bumper profiles and clear lens lighting.
