Holden Rodeo I (KB) gallery (1980–1988)

The first generation of the Holden Rodeo compact utility pickup based on the Isuzu Faster KB series.

The first-generation Holden Rodeo (KB series) was launched in 1980 to replace the earlier Chevrolet LUV and Holden Isuzu utility offerings, based directly on the second-generation Isuzu Faster platform. It was manufactured across multiple body styles including single cab, space cab, and four-door crew cab, available as both bare cab-chassis and with factory utility pick-up tubs. Powertrain offerings consisted of durable Isuzu four-cylinder petrol engines with displacements of 1.6, 1.8, 2.0, and 2.3 liters, as well as naturally aspirated 2.0-liter and 2.2-liter diesel units. These engines were mated to 4-speed or 5-speed manual gearboxes, with a 3-speed automatic option available on select rear-wheel-drive configurations. Built upon a rugged ladder-frame chassis with independent front torsion-bar suspension and a heavy-duty leaf-sprung live rear axle, the KB Rodeo was available in both 4x2 and selectable 4x4 drivetrains. It established a strong reputation for durability in Australia and New Zealand.
