Holden Commodore V (ZB) gallery (2018–2020)
The final imported generation based on the front- and all-wheel-drive GM E2XX platform derived from the Opel Insignia B.
Introduced in early 2018, the fifth and final generation of the Holden Commodore (designated ZB) represented a transformative departure from its predecessors. Following the closure of Holden's domestic manufacturing facilities in late 2017, the ZB was imported fully built from Germany as a localized variant of the Opel/Vauxhall Insignia B. Underpinned by GM's global front-wheel-drive E2XX architecture, it abandoned the traditional rear-wheel-drive layout and V8 engine options. The body styles included a sleek five-door liftback and a versatile five-door wagon (marketed as the Sportwagon and the high-riding, all-wheel-drive Tourer crossover). Powertrain options consisted of a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 260 hp, a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel producing 170 hp, and a 3.6-litre naturally aspirated LGX V6 engine delivering 320 hp, exclusively paired with an advanced Twinster torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system on the flagship VXR. All models were mated to smooth 8-speed or 9-speed automatic transmissions. In December 2019, General Motors announced the retirement of the Holden brand, leading to the official discontinuation of the Commodore nameplate in 2020.
