Holden Commodore IV (VE-VF) photos

Debuting in 2006 with the VE series, the fourth-generation Commodore represented a monumental achievement for Australian automotive manufacturing. Developed from a clean sheet at a cost exceeding one billion Australian dollars, it was built on GM's world-class rear-wheel-drive Zeta architecture. The platform delivered near-perfect 50:50 weight distribution, a rigid body shell, double-pivot MacPherson front suspension, and a multi-link rear setup. Body configurations included a four-door sedan, the sleek five-door Sportwagon, and the iconic two-door Ute. Powertrains comprised 3.0-litre and 3.6-litre Alloytec/SIDI High Feature V6 engines with direct injection, alongside thunderous 6.0-litre (L98, L76, L77) and 6.2-litre LS3 V8 engines generating over 410 horsepower. Transmissions featured 6-speed Tremec manuals and GM 6-speed automatics. A comprehensive redesign arrived in 2013 with the VF series, bringing an aluminium hood/trunk, a dramatically upgraded interior, and advanced driver aids, followed by the VF Series II in 2015. Exported globally, it was sold in North America as the Pontiac G8, Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle (PPV), and Chevrolet SS sports sedan before local production ended in October 2017.
