Holden Caprice III (WH/WK/WL) gallery (1999–2006)

The third generation of the Holden Caprice long-wheelbase sedan powered by GM LS1 V8s and Alloytec V6 engines.

The third-generation Holden Caprice launched in 1999 with the WH series, utilizing an elongated 2939 mm wheelbase platform based on the European-derived VT architecture. Designed as an executive chauffeur-driven limousine, it offered unparalleled rear legroom, rear entertainment systems, dual-zone climate control, and full leather upholstery. The initial engine lineup included the 3.8-litre Ecotec V6, supercharged V6, and the all-aluminium 5.7-litre GM LS1 Gen III V8 pushing up to 330 hp through a GM 4L60-E automatic transmission. The WK update in 2003 introduced angular contemporary front-end styling. The WL series in 2004 introduced Holden's 3.6-litre Alloytec 190 DOHC V6 with variable valve timing and a five-speed automatic gearbox, alongside electronic stability control. Towards the end of the WL run, GM's 6.0-litre L76 V8 was fitted. The third generation achieved massive export success across the Middle East as the Chevrolet Caprice, in China as the Buick Royaum, and in South Korea as the Daewoo Statesman.
