About this generation

The fifth-generation GMC Sierra on the T1XX platform, featuring the MultiPro tailgate, CarbonPro composite bed, and rugged AT4 and AT4X off-road models.

The fifth-generation GMC Sierra was revealed in early 2018 for the 2019 model year, built upon the GM T1XX body-on-frame architecture that reduced vehicle weight by up to 360 pounds through mixed-material engineering and aluminum exterior panels. The pickup introduced exclusive innovations such as the six-function MultiPro tailgate, an available CarbonPro carbon-fiber composite bed, and a class-leading head-up display. Body choices comprise Regular Cab, Double Cab, and Crew Cab configurations across diverse trim grades including the rugged off-road AT4 and AT4X as well as the ultra-luxurious Denali Ultimate. The powertrain portfolio encompasses a 2.7-liter TurboMax inline-four, 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 engines with Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM), and a refined 3.0-liter Duramax inline-six turbo-diesel engine paired with eight-speed and ten-speed automatic transmissions. Heavy-duty Sierra HD models offer a 6.6-liter gas V8 and a 6.6-liter Duramax V8 turbo-diesel backed by an Allison 10-speed transmission. A major interior and exterior refresh for 2022 introduced a 13.4-inch touchscreen interface, hands-free Super Cruise trailering technology, and updated exterior fascias, continuing active global production.
