GMC Acadia I (GMT968) gallery (2006–2016)

The first-generation GMC Acadia was introduced in late 2006 for the 2007 model year, marking GMC's transition into the full-size unibody crossover segment to replace the body-on-frame Envoy SUV and Safari passenger van. Built on the GM Lambda platform (GMT968) alongside the Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, and Saturn Outlook, the Acadia offered three rows of seating for up to eight passengers with the innovative Smart Slide second-row seating system. Early models were powered by a 3.6-liter High Feature V6 engine (LY7) generating 275 hp, which was upgraded in 2009 to a direct-injected 3.6-liter LLT V6 making 288 hp. Both engines were mated to a Hydra-Matic 6T75 six-speed automatic transmission with either front-wheel drive or full-time all-wheel drive. In 2010, the top-tier luxury Denali trim joined the portfolio. A comprehensive mid-cycle refresh for the 2013 model year brought a bold upright grille, wrap-around rear glass, upgraded infotainment, and an industry-first front center airbag. Built at Lansing Delta Township Assembly in Michigan, it was marketed across North America and the Middle East.
