Ford Ranger II gallery (1993–1997)
The second generation of the North American Ford Ranger pickup (1993–1997) introduced a streamlined aerodynamic body, flared fenders, and upgraded cabin amenities.
Debuting for the 1993 model year, the second-generation North American Ford Ranger retained the rugged ladder frame of its predecessor while receiving a completely redesigned body. The new styling featured smooth aerodynamic lines, widened fenders, integrated grille styling, and flush glass. Body configurations included single-cab Regular Cab and extended SuperCab layouts. In 1994, Ford introduced the youthful Splash edition, featuring a step-side Flareside bed, lowered suspension on 4x2 models, and vibrant exterior graphics. The cabin was upgraded with a modern dashboard and reduced noise, vibration, and harshness.
Powertrain options were exclusively gasoline-fueled, featuring a 2.3-liter inline-four, a 3.0-liter Vulcan V6, and a range-topping 4.0-liter Cologne V6 delivering 160 horsepower. A mid-cycle update in 1995 brought a revised interior with a modern instrument panel, standard driver-side airbag (dual airbags for 1996), and new electronically controlled 4R44E/4R55E 4-speed automatic transmissions. Four-wheel-drive models utilized an electronic shift-on-the-fly system with hub-locks.
