About this generation

The second-generation Kuga created a unified global compact SUV featuring EcoBoost engines and smart AWD.

Introduced in 2012, the Kuga Mk2 consolidated global SUV production, sharing its structure with the North American Escape. The redesigned body yielded substantially improved cargo capacity and introduced a hands-free power tailgate activated by foot motion. The cabin incorporated modern cockpit styling and updated ergonomics.

Powertrains transitioned to efficient 1.5-liter and 1.6-liter EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engines and 2.0-liter TDCi diesels. An Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system continuously monitored traction parameters to optimize torque split. A 2016 mid-cycle update updated front-end styling and added SYNC 3.
