The second-generation Ford EcoSport global subcompact crossover was produced from 2012 to 2023 and distributed to automotive markets in over 100 countries.
The second-generation Ford EcoSport (factory code B515, built on the global B2E platform) debuted in 2012 as a global vehicle developed under the corporate "One Ford" strategy. Manufactured in assembly plants in Brazil, India, China, Romania, Russia, and Thailand, it was distributed across Europe, North America, Asia, and Latin America. Built on an updated global B-segment architecture shared with the Fiesta Mk6, the crossover featured modern aerodynamic styling while maintaining its practical interior layout and side-hinged rear tailgate with an optional exterior spare tire.
Powertrain choices included the award-winning 1.0-liter 3-cylinder EcoBoost turbocharged engine (100–140 hp), 1.5-liter Ti-VCT and Dragon naturally aspirated gasoline engines, a 2.0-liter Duratec (166 hp), and a 1.5-liter TDCi turbodiesel. Transmissions ranged from 5- and 6-speed manuals to a PowerShift dual-clutch or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic, with front-wheel drive or intelligent AWD. A comprehensive 2017 mid-cycle facelift brought a redesigned front grille, an updated interior layout with a floating SYNC 3 touchscreen display, and enhanced active safety systems before global production officially concluded in 2023.
