The second generation Changan CS55 adopted a more aggressive futuristic exterior design, updated powertrains, and advanced digital driver assistance systems.

The second generation Changan CS55 launched in March 2021, bringing substantial engineering and styling upgrades to the compact crossover lineup. Constructing upon an enhanced modular chassis with high-strength steel reinforcements, the vehicle utilizes MacPherson front struts and a multi-link rear suspension arrangement. The exterior styling draws inspiration from Changan UNI design philosophy, showcasing a borderless front intake grille, sharp LED lighting signatures, and flush door accents. Under the hood sits an updated 1.5-liter Blue Whale NE turbocharged gasoline engine generating between 181 and 188 horsepower, mated to a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission sending power to the front wheels. The interior features a modern cockpit configuration with a 10.25-inch digital gauge panel, a 12.3-inch central multimedia touchscreen, a flattened steering wheel rim, and multi-color ambient cabin illumination. Driver assist technologies include adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, automatic emergency braking, and a 360-degree camera monitoring setup. The vehicle is widely exported across international regions, including the Middle East where it is also badged as the Changan UNI-S.
