The first-generation Cadillac Series 60 (1936–1938) debuted as Cadillac's entry-level mid-size V8 model featuring Fisher Turret Top body construction.
The first-generation Cadillac Series 60 was produced from 1936 through 1938 (designated yearly as 36-60, 37-60, and 38-60) as Cadillac's mid-priced entry model. Built on GM's B-body platform shared with LaSalle, it was styled under Harley Earl with a tall slender grille and split V-windshield. It introduced Fisher Body's seamless steel Turret Top roof design to the line. Available body styles included a four-door sedan, two-door coupe, and a two-door convertible coupe, capturing strong sales in the mid-tier luxury car market.
Powering the Series 60 was Cadillac's new Monobloc V8 engine, starting at 322 cubic inches (5.3 liters) with 125 horsepower in 1936, expanding to 346 cubic inches (5.7 liters) and 135 horsepower for 1937–1938. The engine was backed by a three-speed selective synchromesh manual transmission. Mechanical features included 'Knee-Action' independent front suspension and Bendix dual-servo hydraulic drum brakes.
