Buick Electra VI gallery (1985–1990)

Introduced for the 1985 model year, the sixth-generation Buick Electra underwent a radical transformation by shifting to General Motors' all-new front-wheel-drive C-body unibody architecture with a 110.8-inch wheelbase. Available in 2-door coupe and 4-door sedan forms (while the traditional rear-wheel-drive Estate Wagon continued on the B-body platform through 1989), this generation embraced transverse-mounted V6 powertrains. Engine options included a 3.0-liter carbureted V6, the acclaimed multi-port fuel-injected 3.8-liter Buick V6 (which evolved into the famous 3800 Series I producing up to 165 hp), and briefly a 4.3-liter Oldsmobile V6 diesel. Power was managed by GM's 4-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic 440-T4 (4T60) automatic transaxle. The lineup included the sporty Electra T-Type and the prestigious Park Avenue. In 1991, the Electra nameplate was retired as the Park Avenue became a standalone model.
