Buick Century VI (W-body) gallery (1997–2005)

The sixth generation Buick Century was unveiled in late 1996 for the 1997 model year, moving to General Motors' second-generation W-body architecture alongside the Buick Regal. Sold exclusively as a traditional four-door notchback sedan, it offered a spacious six-passenger cabin featuring a front split-bench seat and column shifter. Propulsion was provided by GM's durable 3.1-liter V6 engine (initially the 160 hp L82, upgraded to the 175 hp LG8 with 175 horsepower in 2000), paired with a 4-speed electronically controlled 4T65-E automatic transmission. The chassis prioritized a plush, cushioned ride with exceptional sound insulation and standard dual-zone climate control. In addition to North America, the Century was produced in China by Shanghai GM as one of the brand's key executive sedans. Production ceased in 2005, when it was replaced by the Buick LaCrosse.
