The fifth generation Buick Century was introduced for 1982 on General Motors' all-new front-wheel-drive unibody A-body platform. Spanning a 15-year production run, it offered remarkable durability in two-door coupe, four-door sedan, and station wagon body styles. Engine choices evolved extensively over its lifecycle, including the 2.5-liter Tech IV four-cylinder, 2.8-liter, 3.0-liter, and 3.3-liter V6s, culminating in the smooth 3.1-liter 3100 V6, alongside a rare 4.3-liter diesel V6. Power was handled by 3-speed and 4-speed electronically managed automatic transmissions. The Century received multiple comprehensive refreshes in 1986, 1989, and 1993, updating its aerodynamic front end, formal roofline, and modern safety features like driver airbags. It was primarily sold in North America, consistently ranking among Buick's top volume sellers.
