Introduced in 2014, the F26 X4 applied the successful coupe-crossover formula of the larger X6 to the midsize premium segment. Built upon the underpinning chassis architecture of the F25 X3, the F26 featured a distinct body with a fastback roofline that sloped smoothly into an integrated rear spoiler. Drivers sat 20 millimeters lower than in the X3, delivering a noticeably more sport-focused seating posture and lowered center of gravity for enhanced agility.

Inside, the F26 offered a driver-oriented cockpit equipped with sports seating and dedicated trim finishes. Power options encompassed refined TwinPower Turbo petrol and diesel engines paired exclusively with xDrive all-wheel drive and ZF 8-speed transmissions. The lineup culminated in the flagship M40i, which boasted a 360-horsepower turbocharged six-cylinder engine, stiffer dynamic damping, and aggressive exterior design accents worldwide.
