Launched in 2005, the second-generation BMW M6—encompassing the E63 coupe and E64 convertible—revived a legendary badge with authentic Formula 1 technology. Nestled beneath the sculpted hood was the renowned naturally aspirated 5.0-liter S85 V10 engine, capable of revving to an extraordinary 8,250 rpm and pumping out 500 horsepower. The engine was paired with a rapid-shifting seven-speed SMG III automated manual transmission featuring eleven selectable shift programs.

The E63 coupe featured a lightweight carbon-fiber roof panel designed specifically to lower the center of gravity and enhance high-speed cornering agility. Outfitted with electronic damper control, widened track dimensions, and distinctive quad tailpipes, the E63/E64 generation captivated performance enthusiasts with its high-revving supercar acceleration wrapped inside a comfortable luxury grand tourer, standing alone as BMW's sole V10 coupe.
