About the model

The first-generation Audi Q7 4L launched in 2005 as the brand's pioneering full-size luxury SUV. Built on a robust platform with a longitudinal engine layout, it featured standard permanent quattro all-wheel drive. The powertrain catalog spanned V6 and V8 gasoline units alongside TDI diesels, matched to automatic transmissions. A mid-cycle facelift refreshed the exterior with LED lighting signatures and replaced earlier transmissions with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The second-generation 4M debuted in 2015, continuing in the full-size SUV segment. A new modular platform utilizing substantial aluminum content significantly lowered vehicle weight compared to the original model. Available features included four-wheel steering, adaptive air suspension, and turbocharged V6 and inline-four engines. A comprehensive mid-cycle refresh updated the interior with a multi-screen digital layout, with production spanning through 2026.

The third generation G8, arriving in 2026, advances the full-size SUV lineage with upgraded electrical architectures, modernized chassis technology, and electrified powertrains, remaining in active production.
