The Virage marked Aston Martin's return to producing full-fledged sports cars after a long period of stagnation. The model featured a powerful V8 engine and offered a blend of traditional hand-crafted British luxury with a more modern chassis. Despite its substantial weight, the car possessed excellent performance characteristics and served as the basis for a series of high-performance modifications, including Vantage and Volante versions, strengthening the brand's position in the GT segment.
