Aston Martin Unveils the 2026 DB12 S: Elevating Performance and Style
The introduction of the S variant for Aston Martin's latest DB12 was anticipated, and the manufacturer has surpassed expectations by increasing power and reducing weight to enhance its performance capabilities. The 2026 Aston Martin DB12 S is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine that delivers more horsepower than the standard DB12, ensuring thrilling performance without sacrificing the luxury and refinement that owners expect.
Increased Horsepower and Acceleration
The upgraded 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine in the 2026 DB12 S generates an impressive 690 hp, nearly 20 hp more than the regular DB12, while maintaining 590 lb-ft of torque between 3,000 and 6,000 rpm. Equipped with a new launch control system, Aston Martin claims the DB12 S can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, a tenth of a second faster than the non-S model. Additionally, the quad-tip titanium exhaust system enhances the engine's sound by 1.5 decibels and reduces exhaust weight by approximately 26 pounds compared to the standard system.
Superior Handling and Braking
While the initial acceleration may not feel drastically different, the DB12 S shines once it commits to the throttle and approaches the first turn. The S-specific throttle mapping and 50-percent faster gear shifts provide a more responsive driving experience. Standard carbon-ceramic brakes offer enhanced braking performance with greater thermal capacity, allowing for repeated hard stops without fade. The reduction of nearly 60 pounds in unsprung mass from the brakes improves ride quality, steering feel, and overall handling. Additionally, the DB12 S features an electronic differential and refined power-assist calibration in the steering, anti-lock braking, and stability-control systems. Software enhancements to the Bilstein DTX dampers, combined with stiffer anti-roll bars, improve stability during cornering and enhance front-end responsiveness.
Aerodynamic and Exterior Upgrades
The exterior of the 2026 DB12 S combines form and function with improved downforce and airflow management. A new dual-element front splitter and enhanced hood vents, available in gloss black or exposed carbon fiber finishes, optimize airflow and reduce aerodynamic drag. The side sills feature gloss-black accents that complement the splitter's lines, while the rear is equipped with a fixed spoiler and a newly designed diffuser that work together to minimize rear-end lift. The titanium exhaust not only contributes to the car's aggressive sound but also aligns with its high-performance design ethos.
Luxurious and Customizable Interior
Inside, the DB12 S offers a variety of interior customization options, including different leather and Alcantara trim combinations. Choices range from Accelerate leather with Alcantara trim to Inspire S semi-aniline leather with Alcantara, and a full semi-aniline leather option for the Inspire S package. The interiors feature embossed and debossed Aston Martin logos on the headrests and S Herringbone quilted seats with micro-perforations for a bespoke appearance. Additional options include an Alcantara heated sports steering wheel and a choice between standard 16-way Sport Plus electric seats or lighter carbon-fiber performance buckets. The 2026 DB12 S is available in both Coupe and droptop Volante configurations, with deliveries slated to begin in the first quarter of 2026. Final pricing details are expected to be announced closer to the launch date.
