Unveiling of the Limited Mazda MX-5 Miata 35th Anniversary Edition

We waited and finally witnessed the grand revelation of the Mazda MX-5 Miata 35th Anniversary Edition at the Mazda Fan Festa 2024.

The long-awaited debut of this highly anticipated sports car took place at the Fuji Speedway in Japan. The convertible duo was showcased on stage, although full details were not released.

Both the soft top and the RF sibling of the MX-5 Miata 35th Anniversary Edition will be exclusively available in the striking Artisan Red triple-layer paint. Mazda has equipped the hardtop with 17-inch wheels while the standard roadster with a fabric roof features 16-inch alloys.

The classic beige finish of the manually folding top complements the red-over-tan interior, reminiscent of previous special editions from the early 2000s and mid-1990s.

Notable interior features of the special edition include an embroidered 35th Anniversary logo on the headrests and distinctive red accents on the air vent bezels, the top part of the door cards, and even the key fob. Unlike the previous 30th Anniversary model, the 35th Anniversary version maintains the regular seats instead of Recaros.

Contrary to its predecessor, the focus of the 35th Anniversary model is on comfort rather than sportiness, with possible changes to the brakes and dampers. Production will not have a predetermined limit on the number of units. Instead, time will determine the availability of the limited anniversary edition.

Mazda plans to individually number the cars without artificially capping production in order to satisfy every demand. The car's sequential production number will be indicated by a special plaque placed ahead of the rear wheel on the right side.

Following the sensational unveiling of the 35th Anniversary Edition, Mazda officials announced that development of the MX-5 Miata will continue, implying the potential release of another special edition next year to commemorate 10 years of the current generation ND. In fact, the MX-5 Miata RS, showcased earlier this year, could potentially be one of these highly anticipated special editions featuring track-focused enhancements.
