Kia Starting Chinese Sub-Brand Named Horki

Kia’s Chinese joint venture, Dongfeng Yueda Kia, informed the product of a new Chinese-only car maker at the Shanghai Car Show today, named Horki. 

Kia informs that the name is created from two different parts, ‘Hor’ which is China, and ‘Ki’ which relates to driving. Roughly translated, it means ‘Driving in China,’ though when read aloud in the western part of the world it means something a little bit different.

Models from the Horki brand are aiming to be practical, economical and reliability, while cars from the existing Kia will represent sports, passion and style.

Also revealed at the Shanghai Car Show was the Horki 1 Concept, which is based on the Kia Forte, though it has been said to look a little bit different. Kia informs that the Horki badge will appear on a lot of different types of models, one of which will be enhanced by an alternative power source. These cars are going to appear on the Chinese market approximately in late 2015.
