Kia Unveils Bold Vision Meta Turismo Concept as a Nod to Tomorrow

At the start of this week, Kia stirred excitement with teaser images of a sleek fastback-style sedan, sparking speculation about a Stinger comeback. However, it appears these hopes may be premature since the angular Vision Meta Turismo concept isn't confirmed as a Stinger successor. Instead, this visionary design serves as Kia’s self-celebration for its 80th anniversary milestone.

While technically marking the 81st year since Kyungsung Precision Industry’s establishment in 1944, the Kia brand itself was introduced in 1952, with the company producing its first four-wheeled vehicle only in 1974. Prior to that, Kia’s output was limited to bicycles, motorcycles, and trucks.

The Vision Meta Turismo embodies the essence of a futuristic concept car, featuring a strikingly sharp exterior and innovative interior. Kia describes it as a “vision for a new era of mobility,” drawing inspiration from 1960s grand tourers. Although detailed specifications have yet to be revealed, the concept is clearly an electric vehicle designed to deliver what Kia calls “dynamic driving performance.”

Its design resembles a spacecraft arriving from the future, with a complex body featuring countless sharp angles and sleek light bars at both ends. Despite teaser images hinting at a five-door liftback, the concept lacks a traditional trunk or tailgate, reinforcing its conceptual nature.

Inside, the cabin aims to evoke a lounge-like atmosphere. A D-shaped steering wheel equipped with square buttons is positioned before a small rectangular display, while the instrument cluster is projected rather than a conventional screen. The head-up display extends into the passenger side, reminiscent of technology found in the BMW iX3.

Additional interior highlights include a joystick-style armrest control that likely manages various functions such as drive modes. The absence of B-pillars and the expansive use of small glass panels enhance the airy feel inside the car.

Overall, aside from the sloping roofline, the Vision Meta Turismo does not strongly resemble the Stinger and offers little indication of a new sporty sedan on the horizon. Should Kia pursue a vehicle similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 6, it would almost certainly be fully electric. The company promises more information about the Vision Meta Turismo soon but has not confirmed any plans for production.
