4.5M More of Honda Cars are recalled over Takata Airbags
Honda will recall 4.5 million more cars because of the faulty Takata airbags.
Nearly 1.6 million Honda Fit, Stream and CR-V models in Japan fall under this recall. The automaker is still collecting information about the cars with the issue in other markets. The producer assures that this latest recall does not influence any cars in North America.
Totally, the manufacturer has already called back 24.5 million cars around the globe because of Takata airbag inflators. The problem is that these airbags can explode with too much force. This will cause shrapnel to fly at the passengers. Up till now, we are aware of eight deaths caused by this issue.
Thankfully to investigation, it was determined that moisture seeping into the inflators can lead to the propellant loosing density with the lapse of time. In such a way, the risk of an inflator rupture is raised. The further investigation will show the root of this problem.
Nissan has revealed the first injury connected with Takata airbags in one of its cars earlier this week. Takata airbag issue has affected more than 36 million cars around the globe. This problem is spread over 11 different automakers.
