Meet the First 2016 Ford F-150 CNG
The first 2016 Ford F-150 has rolled off the production line. This offering can run on compressed natural gas or propane.
The vehicle rides with a 5.0-litre Ti-VCT eight-cylinder engine. The model under consideration can be obtained with a gaseous-fuel preparation installed on the plant. It includes pistons and piston rings, valve seats, hardened valves. Thankfully to this, operation on propane, natural gas or petrol through separate fuel set-ups becomes possible. The car makes Ford the only producer to sell a half-ton pickup that runs on propane or CNG.
The automaker tells that the F-150 CNG is able to ride more than 750 miles on combined tanks (CNG and petrol). Everything depends just on the size of the tank. It gets 22 mpg on the highway. In combination it reaches 18 mpg. The CNG/LPG engine prep from the plant is priced at $315. Though, obtaining it, the client will have to choose a company’s Qualified Vehicle Modifier to supply fuel tanks, unique fuel injectors and fuel lines. The capacity of fuel tanks determines the price. It could range from $6,000 to $9,500.
The sustainability and technology manager at the automaker’s fleet says that it is thrilling to see the first F-150s with the propane/CNG prepped engines rolling off the assembly line. He assures that despite what kind of fuel the vehicle is running on, its engine provides clients with terrific payload and towing. Besides, it offers the ability of operation on alternative fuel.
