Fresh Ford Tourneo Connect Receives 1.0L 3-Cylinder EcoBoost Turbo
Ford is enlarging the motor lineup of its fresh European market Tourneo Connect minivan even before it arrives showrooms later this year with the addition of its 1.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged 3-cylinder version, with which it will return a combined fuel efficiency of 5.6 l/100 km (50.4 mpg UK / 42mpg US) and 129 g/km CO2 emissions.
The 1.0-liter variant is rated at 100PS (99hp) and comes equipped with Ford's newest fuel-saving technologies as standard, featuring Auto-Start-Stop, Active Grille Shutter and Smart Regenerative Charging.
“The 1.0-litre EcoBoost is a supreme fit for this flexible family vehicle – low fuel consumption and great performance,” informed Stephen Lesh, Tourneo Connect head program engineer, Ford of Europe.
For an even better fuel efficiency, European customers will be able to opt for the 1.6-liter Duratorq TDCi diesel that provides 4.6 l/100 km (61.4 mpg UK / 51.1mpg US) and 120 g/km CO2 emissions, while the 3rd option is a 150PS (148hp) 1.6-litre EcoBoost turbo petrol motor offered with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.
The same Focus-based van that is available in both 5- and 7-seater forms will be delivered in North America as the Transit Connect Wagon (if there was ever a more confusing naming strategy than Ford's expanded van series, we have yet to see it…), launching next year, with a naturally aspirated 2.5L 4-cylinder gasoline and a 1.6-liter EcoBoost providing over 30mpg (7.8L/100km).
