Aston Martin's Virtual Racing Cockpit Matches BMW M3's Price Tag
Sim racing enthusiasts love immersing themselves in virtual tracks, and some of our team at Motor1 have invested in high-end racing setups for extended gaming sessions on PCs or consoles. While our rigs are impressive, none quite match the sleek carbon-fiber design of Aston Martin's latest cockpit—though we didn't spend $75,000 on our own.
This Aston Martin AMR-C01-R racing simulator comes with a starting price of $75,000. To put that into perspective, for a similar amount, you could purchase a Toyota Supra outfitted with performance tires, a fully equipped Subaru BRZ with aftermarket enhancements and a trailer, or a new Porsche 718 Cayman before it transitions to electric power. Even a BMW M3 begins at around $76,700. Clearly, this cockpit is exceptionally pricey, particularly since it lacks motion functionality and remains stationary.
Design and Features
Crafted by Curv Racing Simulators, the cockpit boasts a carbon fiber build and showcases a redesigned seating arrangement inspired by the Aston Martin Valkyrie. It features an authentic Aston Martin grille and a comprehensive set of controls, including a sophisticated steering wheel and a multifunction switch panel. While it's unclear if the wheel provides force feedback, the seat is adjustable to accommodate gamers of varying heights.
Technical Specifications
The simulator is fully equipped for intense racing sessions, featuring a single 49-inch curved display with a 240Hz refresh rate and a 1ms response time, ensuring sharp and fluid visuals. It's powered by the NVIDIA RTX 5090 graphics card, a top-tier component in the gaming community, which alone costs around $3,000. However, this is minor compared to the overall $75,000 investment required for the rig.
The AMR-C01-R is an enhanced version of Curv's initial Aston Martin simulator released in 2020, which quickly sold out. Only 50 units of this new model will be produced, with options to customize both interior and exterior colors available on Curv's website. Deliveries are scheduled to start in April.
