Toyota Unveils Track-Ready GR Yaris Morizo RR in Limited Numbers
Toyota has introduced the GR Yaris Morizo RR, a track-optimized version of the popular GR Yaris, making its debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon.
This special edition focuses heavily on performance enhancements, featuring a refined suspension setup, an upgraded all-wheel-drive system, and lightweight carbon fiber aerodynamic components designed to boost downforce and reduce weight.
With only 200 units produced globally, split evenly between Japan and Europe, this rare model will be offered through a lottery system. Pricing details have not been revealed yet.
The GR Yaris Morizo RR was developed with direct input from Toyota's chairman, Akio Toyoda, and incorporates insights gained from endurance racing events like the Nürburgring 24 Hours.
Under the hood, it utilizes the same Direct Automatic transmission found in the GR Corolla available in the US, but it’s been fine-tuned for quicker gear shifts and enhanced driving control. The suspension is further sharpened, and the car boasts a unique 4WD mode with an equal 50:50 torque distribution.
In terms of design, the Morizo RR stands out with a carbon-fiber rear wing and front splitter, both crafted to improve aerodynamic efficiency. The exterior paint is a distinctive Gravel Khaki accented by yellow brake calipers, while the cabin includes subtle upgrades such as a racing steering wheel finished in suede.
Given its exclusivity and performance upgrades, the GR Yaris Morizo RR is expected to command a premium price, though official numbers remain undisclosed.
Motor1's opinion: The GR Yaris is already impressive, and this version takes it to another level. Now, we’re eagerly anticipating a similar Morizo RR variant for the GR Corolla.
