Dongfeng Debuts Unibody M-Hero X700 Plug-In Hybrid SUV With Huawei Tech
Dongfeng, in partnership with technology company Huawei, has officially unveiled the new M-Hero X700 SUV. According to CarNewsChina, this model is the first in the brand's lineup to feature a unibody structure instead of a traditional body-on-frame construction. The vehicle is equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain and Huawei's proprietary suite of smart electronics, including the HarmonyOS Cockpit cabin architecture.
Inside, the M-Hero X700 is the first to feature the HarmonySpace 6 dashboard, which houses two 15.6-inch screens with 2.5K resolution. They are complemented by a 74-inch Huawei XHUD head-up display with augmented reality navigation. Driver assistance systems are powered by the Huawei ADS 5 platform, which relies on data from 27 sensors, including a high-precision lidar. New capabilities include an off-road navigation assistance system (NCA), a roaming assistance function (RCA), and customizable exterior displays.
The M-Hero X700 powertrain is built around a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 113 kW, paired with two traction electric motors: the front motor delivers 190 kW (255 hp), while the rear motor produces 215 kW (288 hp). The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.93 seconds. Buyers can choose between two lithium iron phosphate traction battery options manufactured by CATL: the base 51.46 kWh battery provides a range of up to 285 kilometers under the CLTC cycle, while the larger 68.10 kWh pack allows for a range of up to 360 kilometers.
The vehicle is based on the Bedrock 2.0 chassis with a double-wishbone front suspension and a five-link rear setup. The suspension uses magnetorheological dampers and dual-chamber air springs, allowing the ground clearance to be adjusted across six fixed levels within a 150-millimeter range. The newcomer's main market rival will be the BYD Fang Cheng Bao Ti 7 SUV and similar models in its class. The Dongfeng M-Hero X700 is offered in four trim levels at an estimated price ranging from 147,500 to 187,700 yuan, which at current exchange rates is equivalent to approximately 1.8 to 2.3 million rubles.
