Angelelli Automobili Unveils Tipo 829 Sports Car in Three Distinct Variants
Angelelli Automobili has introduced the Tipo 829, an ambitious sports car project seven years in the making. The vehicle takes its name from the internal project code originally used for the legendary 1970s Lancia Stratos HF rally icon, exploring multiple specialized versions built atop a shared technical architecture.
Powering the Tipo 829 is a 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine producing roughly 500 horsepower, though an introductory mention also references a 3.2-liter displacement. Angelelli Automobili positions the car not as a single model weighed down by an extensive options catalog, but as three distinctly tuned characters developed around the same core concept: Terra, Strada, and Pista.
The Terra variant is the first iteration moving from the drawing board into a commissionable bespoke vehicle. Drawing inspiration from rally stages and hill climbs, the Terra prioritizes mixed-surface capability, mechanical grip, and traction across rougher terrain rather than smooth circuit work. Unlike contemporary raised sports cars that rely on adjustable air suspension setups, official materials highlight the Terra's dedicated rally-bred mechanical identity and specialized running gear, omitting standard ride-height or suspension-travel metrics.
Project founder Davide Angelelli outlines the Strada version as the formula closest to a classic Italian grand tourer. Configured for fast highway cruising, road trips, and spirited asphalt driving, the Strada trades off-road readiness for grand touring refinement and high-speed stability.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, the Pista variant is conceived purely around minimum lap times. Built for circuit duty, it incorporates dedicated accelerator mapping, sharp steering calibrations, and distinct engine output targets. Full specifications for the track-focused Pista remain limited, with finalized power ratings, curb weights, and aerodynamic figures still to be published.
Production of the Tipo 829 Terra will be strictly limited and tailored to individual client commissions, reflecting low-volume Italian coachbuilding traditions with three truly distinct driving personalities.
