Sales of the 843-HP Hongqi G919 Body-on-Frame SUV Launch in China
Premium Chinese brand Hongqi has launched sales of its new full-size G919 SUV in its domestic market. This model is the first vehicle in the brand's history built for serious off-roading and is positioned as a direct competitor to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. The vehicle is based on a body-on-frame chassis and a series hybrid powertrain.
Buyers in China are offered three trim levels: the base Four-Motor Tuojing is priced at 349,980 yuan (4.2 million rubles), the Four-Motor Yujing trim costs 389,980 yuan (4.7 million rubles), and the Limited Edition special version comes in at 429,980 yuan (5.2 million rubles). In the future, the model is also planned to be launched in the Russian market, though the exact start date for sales and the lineup of trims will be announced later.
The powertrain features a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that powers four independent electric motors. Combined output reaches 620 kW (around 843 hp) with 1,320 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. A 62.9 kWh traction battery provides up to 280 km of pure electric range under the CLTC cycle, while the total driving range is 1,350 km. Thanks to an 800-volt architecture, recharging from 30 to 80% takes 12 minutes, and external device power supply of up to 6 kW is also provided.
The body dimensions of the Hongqi G919 measure 5,135 × 2,050 × 1,950 mm with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. Standard ground clearance is 220 mm, increasing to 290 mm in wading mode; the maximum wading depth is 900 mm, and the approach and departure angles are 30° and 32°, respectively. The air suspension has an adjustment range of 120 mm and features five height levels. Each wheel is controlled individually: the standard minimum turning radius is 5.3 meters, and with the Qixuan MAX function activated, it shrinks to 2.5 meters, allowing the vehicle to turn almost on the spot. Cargo capacity ranges from 950 to 2,120 liters with the second row folded.
The interior is equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 17.3-inch central screen, and a matching 17.3-inch 3K ceiling-mounted monitor for rear passengers, while physical buttons are also retained. The Lingxi 5.0+ infotainment system is powered by a Qualcomm 8295P processor and includes two AI voice assistants — Doubao and Qianwen. The second row features a 7.3-liter refrigerator, a folding table, and an 18-speaker Dynaudio sound system. Electronic driver assistance systems are supported by a roof-mounted 384-channel Zhuoyu lidar with a range of up to 400 meters, a millimeter-wave radar, 11 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors.
