Possible Introduction of the New Shelby GT500 Revealed in Leaked Memo

Ford continues to expand its Mustang lineup with various potential models ready to make their debut. Previous iterations like the Mach 1 and the classic Boss 302 have been fan favorites, but recent focus has shifted towards the Shelby variants. A recently surfaced document, allegedly from a local UAW chapter, indicates that a new GT500 model may be on the horizon.

The leaked memo, shared on the Mustang subreddit, reveals that the Dearborn Engine Plant (DEP) plans to implement an additional afternoon shift on its specialized assembly line. This change is reportedly to meet increased production demands for the 2026 Mustang Shelby GT500, which shares its engine with the F-150 Raptor R. The document mentions excitement about building engines for this iconic vehicle, naming the engine model as “Legend.”

Verification of the document's authenticity has been sought from UAW Local 600, the union representing the plant's workers, but no confirmation has been provided yet. The story will be updated should further information become available.

Since the launch of the seventh-generation Mustang in 2023, Ford has rapidly introduced high-performance versions such as the Dark Horse and GTD, along with the recent EcoBoost RTR which incorporates elements from the Dark Horse model.

Should Ford maintain its current trajectory, these special editions may remain in production for several years, paving the way for new models like the potential GT500. Only time will reveal what’s next for the iconic Mustang series.
