Dunlop Joins Forces with Gran Turismo 7 to Drive the GT World Series Forward

On September 20, Polyphony Digital Inc. announced Dunlop as the official tire sponsor for Gran Turismo 7 and the esteemed Gran Turismo World Series. This collaboration signifies a blend of storied racing traditions with cutting-edge digital advancements, appealing to both sim racing enthusiasts and motorsport aficionados.

Over a Century of Tire Excellence

Dunlop's legacy in the automotive and racing industries spans more than 130 years, marked by continuous innovation. Although John Boyd Dunlop did not invent the pneumatic tire, his advancements in 1888 popularized its use in racing and mainstream automotive applications. From breaking speed records in the 1920s to pioneering hydroplaning research in the 1960s, Dunlop has been at the forefront of tire technology, achieving significant victories like the 1991 Mazda 787B's historic win at Le Mans.

Entering the Virtual Racing Sphere

The partnership officially takes effect at the second round of the Gran Turismo World Series 2025 in Berlin, where Dunlop will supply tires for the competition. Additionally, Gran Turismo 7 players can anticipate future updates that integrate Dunlop's tire models into the game, enhancing the realism and depth of the virtual racing experience.

Hiroshi Hamada, Senior Executive Officer at Sumitomo Rubber, emphasized the synergy between real-world expertise and virtual simulation: "Gran Turismo is expanding the horizons of motorsports by connecting actual racing with the digital realm. Our combined efforts aim to develop high-performance and sustainable tire solutions."

Kazunori Yamauchi, the producer of Gran Turismo, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, "Welcoming Dunlop into the Gran Turismo family adds a storied brand to our platform. Their ongoing innovation and rich motorsport history align perfectly with our dedication to authentic and competitive gaming."

Impact on Gamers and Motorsport Lovers

For dedicated sim racers, the introduction of Dunlop's tire technology means more precise handling, realistic grip dynamics, and strategic depth in gameplay. This partnership not only elevates the in-game experience but also bridges the gap between virtual and real-world racing, offering a richer and more immersive environment for both gamers and car enthusiasts.
