Rick Hendrick's Extravagant Bid for the First 2025 Corvette ZR1

Auctioning for Charity

In a long-standing tradition, Chevrolet and Barrett-Jackson will auction off the first 2025 Corvette ZR1 for charity. The auction will take place during Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale event in January. However, it's important to note that the car being auctioned is a placeholder since series production hasn't started yet. Bidders will be paying for the privilege of owning the first car, which can be customized to their liking. Rick Hendrick, an avid Corvette collector, is likely to be the buyer.

Hendrick's Corvette Collection

Rick Hendrick already has an extensive collection of Corvettes, with many of them being the first production models. His previous purchases include the first retail production C8 and the first Z06 convertible, among others. Each of these cars sold for over $1 million, with the Z06 fetching a record-breaking $3.6 million. The proceeds from these sales are donated to charity, and this year's auction will benefit the American Red Cross.

The Powerful ZR1

The 2025 Corvette ZR1 is the quickest, fastest, and most powerful factory Corvette ever produced. With a top speed of 233 mph and the ability to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.3 seconds, it's no wonder why enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating its release. While official lap times haven't been announced, it's expected that the ZR1 will outperform its rivals, including the recently crowned North American record holder, the Mustang GTD. The auction for the first ZR1 is bound to attract high bids, and the final sale price is anyone's guess.
