Mercedes Got G73 And S73 Names

Mercedes has obtained new names for its offerings. According to trademark filings, the automaker can consider revised offering names for denoting the new powerplants.

Registrations of such type are tricky to take seriously as accompany can reserve a name and do not use it. Here is the list of names the producer has got:

  • 1. GLS 63
  • 2. GLS 73
  • 3. S 73
  • 4. GLB 40
  • 5. G 73
  • 6. CLA 53
  • 7. GLC 63
  • 8. GLA 53
  • 9. GLB 53
  • 10. CLS 50
  • 11. GLC 50
  • 12. A 40
  • 13. GLE 50
  • 14. GLE 63
  • 15. GLS 50
  • 16. SL 50
  • 17. SLC 50
  • 18. SLC 40
  • 19. GLC 40
  • 20. CLA 40
  • 21. GLA 40
  • 22. GLE 40

Daimler filed for all of these trademarks last year in Germany. German patent and trademark published the names last December.

It is possible that the 73 moniker could be used for a variant of Mercedes-AMG’s 4.0-litre biturbo eight-cylinder with the addition of plug-in hybrid details providing more than 800 hp and torque of 738 pound-feet.

The 63 unit should be an updated variant of the 4.0-litre biturbo eight-cylinder with 612 hp.
