Porsche 911 GT2 RS sets Nurburgring lap record
The Germans officially revealed the achievement of the two-door Porsche 911 GT2 RS, installed on September 20.
The Circle of the Nürburgring (20.6 km) it passed for 6: 47.3 (family was used for the Michelin Pilot Cup 2 model). Behind were the Lamborghini Huracan Performante (6: 52.01) and even the old Radical SR8LM (6:48). Only the hybrid supercar McLaren P1 LM has a slightly higher result, but the LM version of McLaren, although admitted to public roads, is unlikely to be serialized with a limited edition of six.
The new version of the 911 does not have much to the absolute record of the Ring in 6: 11.13, established in the distant 1983 on the Porsche 956 by racer Stefan Bellof. But it was a leman sports prototype, not a road model.
The record was set during a series of races in which on the track went out Briton Nick Tendi (factory driver Porsche) and the German Lars Kern. Both managed to pass faster than 6:50, but the best time in the end showed Kern (his circle here and withdrawn). The firm emphasizes that everyone was traveling on his copy of the 911th, they say, this indicates the stability of the result.
