Ford has filed patent applications for several innovative storage solutions.

The 1st one, and the more conventional of the two, deals with a mailslot-style void that could be able to hold a smartphone or other objects of similar shape. You will see 2 rubber retainers that should hold the object in place. The unit is positioned in the centre of the dash. That is a convenient and safe place. The space in the centre console will be free.

The 2nd one is for a glove box with a hinged lid and a deployable lower section that is able to double as a tray table. One can extend the tray table in case he or she is hungry. A pretty useful idea!
