830k Ford Cars Are Being Recalled

Ford is going to make a recall for 828,053 cars in North America as their doors can unlatch.

766,682 units are in the U.S. and the other 61,371 are in Mexico. The 2013-2015 Escape, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 C-Max, 2015 Lincoln MKC and 2014-2016 Transit Connect are among the considered issue.

The automaker says that cars in states with higher ambient temperatures and solar loading feature higher rate of reports. The affected states are California, Washington, Louisiana, Nevada, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Utah, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Hawaii, Arizona, Texas, Oregon  and Georgia are among the affected states.

The problem is that the pawl spring tab located in the door can break. Then it will not be able to latch. Moreover, the door can open during driving. That’s definitely not safe. The producer says that there was 1 report about an accident 1 about an injury.

The company’s dealers will change door latches on all the issued cars. Fords will run a customer satisfaction campaign allowing owners not located in the listed states to have a 1-time free latch change for the car’s life-time.
