307K Impalas Feature an Airbag Issue, GM Recalls Them
General Motors is making a recall for 307,000 older Chevy Impalas. The problem lies in the airbags.
It is possible that the front passenger seat fram will rub against certain electrical wires in the cars under consideration. This will lead to airbag fusing to short circuit. In such a way, the passenger safety pillow becomes useless in case of an accident.
The 2009 and 2010 Impala vehicles fall under the issue. 209,000 cars from the total number come from America. It has been reported about 2 injuries connected with this problem.
Anti-abrasion tape will be added to the wires at dealerships and the problem will be fixed.
