Pay $75,995 for the ELR from Cadillac? Even the Marketing Chief says it's too much!

A spokesperson of Cadillac has noted that the ELR’s original kicking-off price was a mistake.

The ELR arrived initially for the 2014 MY. The brand wanted a whopping $75,995 for it. At that time, the car cost $41,000 more than the 2014 Chevrolet Volt, the model upon which it was based. In the result, it was not a surprise that the brand has sold only 1,835 ELR cars over the past 18 months.

Uwe Ellinghaus, the marketing chief of Cadillac, said in his interview with Reuters that the MSRP was really mouthful. He admitted that the automaker has overestimated that clients would realize their rivals were naked at the price. He also specified that the brand had a useful learning exercise with the 2014 ELR.

It is possible to obtain an improved and much cheaper 2016 ELR from Cadillac now. Its price starts at $58,495 together with the applicable U.S. federal tax credits.
