Ford GT Revealed with 600 hp and twin-turbo V6

The Ford GT was disclosed with an innovated twin-turbo EcoBoost powertrain producing more than 600 hp.

Probably one of the most significant vehicles to be introduced in Detroit is more than just for show, since a variant for production will be presented in the next year. The Ford GT can be characterized with styling that reminds the original offering but adjusted to modern standards suitable for an ultra-high-performance supercar.

Aerodynamically optimized design in quite appealing. This optimization reduces drag and generates more downforce. The two-seater is equipped with upward-swinging doors. They grant access to the carbon fibber passenger cell. The vehicle is equipped with an automatic active spoiler at the back. It is adjustable depending on road conditions. Aluminium front and rear subframes were installed in the car. They are covered with carbon fibber body panels. All this lightweight equipment will give the new GT an opportunity to show one of the best power-to-weigh proportions of any production vehicle.

The supercar is equipped with an innovated mid-mounted twin-turbo six-cylinder EcoBoost powertrain. It is able to produce more than 600 hp (or 447 kW) to the rear wheels of 20 inches. The wheels are wrapped around in special tyres created by Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2. The power is sent through a dual-clutch transaxle gear box of seven speeds. The last one can provide near-instantaneous transmission changes.

Simple and functional cabin includes an F1-inspired helm, Ford’s SYNC infotainment package and a fully digital instrument cluster.

The new Ford GT is scheduled to be launched for production in the end of 2016.
