General Motors to Make a Generous Investment into Volt Plant

High hopes are vested into the next Volt by General Motors, and now the company has decided to expand production of electrified cars.

Almost $450 million will be spent by the brand to renovate a production site near Detroit. A factory dealing with battery assembly will also be erected nearby. Two new sites will be devoted to construction of the next Volt and two brand new cars which have not been given names yet. As the corporate report informs, more than $380 million of the total sum will go for bodywork equipment, instruments and various upgrades.

The rest of the money will be invested into the battery assembly site in Brownstone, Michigan. The automaker has serious modernization plans for the technology used at the future plant. From the historical viewpoint such a financial allocation can be considered the largest since the establishing of the Detroit factory in mid-80’s. Last half of decade has already accounted for more than $1 overall investment.

Bosses of General Motors are positive that money spent for assembly sites will eventually result in top rating of Chevrolet Volt in the domain of electrified vehicles.
