VW 'Car-Net' Arriving in 2014 Model Year

VW will equip its fresh “Car-Net” system on several cars in the 2014 model year, the automaker informed today.

Customers with equipped cars will have access to fresh options featuring crash alarm and roadside help. The system also provides remote car access, boundary and speed alarms, upgraded points of interest for vehicles equipped with navigation and stolen car help.

Through its OnStar system, General Motors has provided its clients many of those enhacements for almost two decades. Remote access is becoming highly common in vehicles, with many brands featuring GM, Hyundai, Nissan and many others providing smartphone apps for drivers to look after their vehicles.

VW will equip the technology on the Beetle, Beetle Convertible, CC, Eos, Jetta, Passat, and Tiguan vehicles.
