Jaguar Project 7 is a Retro-Branded Solo-Seater F-Type

Jaguar has uncovered its Project 7 that will be publicly presented at the approaching 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The concept vehicle, which was constructed by a team led by Director of Design, Ian Callum, is a one-off design study based on the British brand’s F-Type. It’s a solo-seater roadster including an all-aluminum body with bespoke carbon fiber aerodynamic details and an exclusive interior. Enhanced by Jaguar’s 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that’s good for 543 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque, making possible to hit 60 mph from a standstill in only 4.1 sec.

The blue paint work on the exterior of the car pays homage to the marvellous Jaguar D-types of 1956 and 1957 and went from an experimental sketch to reality in only 4 months. The windshield on the project has been reduced while a new front end design details revised air intakes and headlights with gloss black surrounds instead of chrome. Project 7 will be runnung on 20-inch Blade wheels with carbon fiber parts when it’s presented to the public at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The interior is indeed race inspired, forgoing the passenger seat for a custom helmet holder. The pilot straps into a composite bucket seat and is held in place with a 4-point racing harness. The seats and inside of the doors are made in a quilted sports-style diamond pattern while carbon fiber inserts can be seen on the console and SportShift lever.

“When you look at this vehicle, it has got a huge amount of appeal,” informed Callum. “It’s just full of desire – you can see that its only purpose is to be admired. Project 7 is a unique model – not just because it’s a one-off, but because of its purity of purpose. It’s real Jaguar.”
