Jaguar Sets Date to Unveil Its New Electric Grand Tourer’s Name
Jaguar is preparing to take another step toward its electric future by finally revealing the name of its upcoming grand tourer. The announcement is set for May 12, while the full production model is expected to make its public debut in September.
The vehicle will be the road-going version of the Type 00 concept and is expected to play a major role in Jaguar’s reinvention. The company is moving away from its previous luxury rivals and aiming instead at brands like Bentley, Porsche, and Aston Martin.
According to reports, deliveries should begin early next year. That timing is important for Jaguar, which plans to discontinue its current combustion-engine lineup by the end of 2025, leaving the new EV as one of its key future products.
Unlike the original two-door concept, the production car is expected to arrive as a four-door grand tourer. Even so, it should stay close to the concept’s bold proportions and overall styling direction.
Underneath, the model will use Jaguar’s new Electric Architecture. Early information points to a three-motor setup with nearly 1,000 horsepower, air suspension, and more than 400 miles of WLTP range. Lower-output versions are also likely to join the lineup later.
Jaguar has not shared pricing yet, but this will not be a budget offering. The name announcement may be especially important, given how much attention the concept’s dramatic design has already attracted online.
