Chevrolet Sonic Returned Because of Gas Tank Defect
Chevrolet is returning 1,658 Sonic vehicles for a gas tank defect.
According to the American company, some Sonic models may have left the plant with defective welds on the straps that attach the fuel tank to the car. As a result, the fuel tank could fall off the vehicle. Affected model years are 2013 and 2014, though a lot of the cars featured in the recall are still on dealership lots.
A total of 1,558 vehicles affected by the return are in the U.S. and the remaining 100 are in Canada. No accidents or injuries related to the return have been reported and Chevrolet will examine the straps and substitute where needed.
